The Larick Beacon

The Larick Beacon at tayport or Tayport Pile as locals call it.

It was built in 1845 and is one of the last remaining wooden pile lighthouses in the country.

The keeper stayed in the octagonal wooden structure the lantern was on the top.

It was designed to guide shipping into the Tay River and Tayport Harbour, the beacon was deactivated in 1966 after the opening of the Tay Road bridge.

The beacon today is in a terrible state, yet another piece of maritime history rotting away.

Dunskey Castle

Dunskey Castle, a picturesque ruin south of Portpatrick, dates from the mid-16th century, built by the Adairs of Kinhilt on the site of an earlier, destroyed castle. Though the new tower house saw additions in the 1620s, it fell into ruin by 1700, with its stone used for other buildings, and now stands as a dramatic cliff-top ruin popular with coastal path walkers, offering views towards Northern Ireland.

Kenmure Hill Temple

Kenmure Hill Temple is a small roofless ruin close the village of Howwood.
Passengers on the train to the Ayrshire coats can fail to miss the craggy tower.
It was builtin 1760 for Colonel William McDowell, a wealthy merchant who made his fortune in the West Indies.
Some say it was built as a folly ,but it was most likely a summer house, his mansion was only a few miles away.

Shamisen man Glasgow

The shamisen (or samisen/sangen) is a traditional three-stringed Japanese plucked instrument, similar in concept to a banjo or guitar, featuring a long neck and a drum-like body covered in skin (or synthetic material). Played with a large plectrum called a bachi, it produces both percussive and melodic sounds

I saw this man playing in Buchanan Street Glasgow,he had his suit case beside him, perhaps a bit of busking before moving on to his final destination.
